Program Summary
Welcome to the Rocklin FC Competitive Program. Our program is unique to the Placer County area in that we have teams playing at the highest level of NorCal Premier League play while supporting the multi-sport athlete. We have a staff of US and internationally licensed coaches across our program to bring a superior soccer experience to your family.
Rocklin FC Competitive typically has between one and four teams per gender/age group, Navy, White & Grey and Onyx. Navy is the 1st team, White the 2nd team, Grey the 3rd team and Onyx the 4th team. The level which the teams play is determined on the teams overall ability level. Navy typically plays in the NPL, Premier or Gold divisions, White teams in Gold, Silver or Bronze divisions and Grey/Onyx teams in Silver or Bronze.
Rocklin FC is a recognized NPL girls program competing at the highest levels within NorCal Premier.
TECHNICAL LEADERSHIP
26/27 Age group Changes - Players can only play up if they fall into one of the following criteria:
Age group changes
Below is a reminder of Rocklin FC's competitive program policies in relation to the upcoming age group changes from US soccer
Players outside of the age group window
To ensure players are placed with others in their same school grade, players with birthdays in outside of the age group window, may be approved to try out at the age group above if confirmed they are in the same grade as that older age group. These players may choose to try out either:
· In their new natural age group, or
· To “play up”
Players Born in 2009
Players born in 2009 will be grandfathered under the current birth-year model and allowed to try out up one year to remain with their current teams at U19, should they choose to.
Players Competing in ECNL-RL or NPL
Rocklin FC currently competes in ECNL-RL, NPL, and NorCal Premier Leagues.
· ECNL-RL and NPL status is earned and tied to the team.
· For the 2026–27 season, teams holding ECNL-RL or NPL status will see that status rise with the team into the next age group.
Example:
Our current 2013 Boys and Girls NPL teams compete at U13 this season. Next season, those teams will compete at U14, and the NPL designation will move with them, with the age range shifting to 8/1/2012–7/31/2013.
To prevent players from being eliminated from an established level of play, current ECNL-RL or NPL players may be allowed to try out at the older age group if their new natural age group does not offer access to the same level of competition.
Developmental “Play-Up” Scenarios
Each year, a small number of players may be given the opportunity to play up based on developmental factors, including:
· Being significantly above their age group in ability
· Limited developmental benefit from remaining age-pure
· Projected to be among the top players at the older age group
To preserve the integrity of tryouts, Rocklin FC will not permit open opt-ins to play up. Players identified through our review process will be contacted by Director of Coaching Dale Barton prior to tryouts.
We expect the vast majority of players to play age-pure next season.
Players Not Initially Offered a Roster Spot
If a player does not make a roster in their own age group, they may be invited to try out at the age group above only if roster needs exist. This process will occur after the second day of tryouts.
Important Reminder: Eligibility to try out at an older age group does not guarantee a roster spot.
