Experience

Started in rec in 2017 - Coached rec for 6 years

Competitive for 2 years (Rocklin FC 2015 Girls)

I started out playing comp as a 9 year old on the first comp team in my area (Lamorinda). I made the premier team that covered the entire Bay Area and played varsity all 4 years in high school. I played wing, halfback, defense, and sweeper. By the time college came around (UC Davis), I was needing a break from soccer. Besides the occasional training I did for local kids, I really didn't have much more to do with soccer until my oldest child turned 6 and decided she was ready to play. I coached her rec team for two years until she went on the first PDA academy team Rocklin FC had. I had a one year break, and then I coached my youngest daughter's rec for 1 year until she went comp, and stuck around to coach the rec team an additional year even though she was no longer on the team. That was when I realized you don't have to be a parent to be fully invested when coaching a team.

I joined the Rocklin FC Board two and a half years ago with the hopes of having more female coaches hired on the comp side, which meant that when the Director of Coaching asked me to coach a comp team, I couldn't say no. I am just finishing up my second year of coaching 2015 comp level, and I have loved every moment of it. I got my D license when coaching rec, as I felt that rec coaches should be just as prepared and able to coach soccer as comp coaches. I got my C license last fall, and I am the only female coach at the club that holds this license.

I also teach middle school math (at Silverado Middle in Roseville), which can be taxing some days, as I'm sure you can imagine. Coaching soccer erases any frustrations I might have felt at school, and it reinvigorates me. Every day is a great day out on the field.

Philosophy

My coaching philosophy is that, as long as a player wants to be there, then I can help them develop into a better player. I take feedback from parents, players, and coaches seriously, and I make sure players are all getting equal play time, as I know development doesn't happen from sitting on the bench.
