BIO

Born in San Leandro, California and raised in neighboring San Lorenzo, Bart began playing organized soccer when he was six years old and never looked back. Soccer and baseball were his constants while growing up, and the impact coaches had on him had lasting effects that helped Bart to be the person he is today. He was a three-year Varsity player at Arroyo High School while playing the “stopper” position and played at Chabot College in Hayward, Ca. A serious illness/knee injury cut his time at Chabot short, but that experience truly showed him how much more each of us could achieve with dedication, hard work and drive. After recovering, he continued playing both soccer and baseball in various adult and semi-professional leagues with some of his former high school teammates through his mid to late twenties.

"My wife and I decided to move from Fremont, Ca to Rocklin in mid-2003. We have three kids (daughter 22, daughter 20, and a son 16) that I have had the pleasure to coach for the past 18+ years. I’ve also had the honor of coaching at Whitney High School (WHS) for the past six years on both the boys and girls side. I’m currently the boys JV soccer coach at WHS and currently coach the 2007 Girls NPL and the 2006 Boys Navy teams. I view coaching as a way of giving back to others what I received from my coaches. Creating a true team environment where character, integrity, hard work, and a winning culture helps create lifelong memories. My philosophy is to always remember that it is “my job to adjust to the players and not their job to adjust to me.” Reaching a young player and teaching them how to truly see and teach back the game to others ranks as one of my favorite parts of coaching. One of my favorite quotes is from former US Women’s National team great, Mia Hamm, who said “Failure happens all the time. It happens every day in practice. What makes you better is how you react to it.”

In addition to coaching, Bart has been on the Rocklin FC Board of Directors since 2009 and currently serves as President. He is also the 11 v 11 Coordinator for the boys’ competitive side of the club. He holds a National E, D, Goalkeeping Certificate, NFHS Coaching Certificate, and is currently participating in the USSF National C license course which will commence in late July 2022. Bart recently retired from his job as Police Captain after 24 years of service, so coaching soccer is now his full-time passion (in addition to family time and fishing), and he spends a lot of his free time on his boat fishing in local lakes and rivers.
